Mis Flores Negras
2021 Artist’s Book Acrylic on birch and inkjet printed paper. In most societies, men are ultimately more valued than women. Women are all too often objectified and reduced to their bodies, or body parts, for men to enjoy. I explore readers’ perceptions of that with this book: One must pull apart a woman-shaped object to discover the beauty inside while reading the poem Mis Flores Negras (My Faded Flowers), which shares the laments of a man who no longer enjoys male privilege.
